Vitamins perform specific and vital functions in the body chemistry. When taken in correct amounts and regularly, vitamins are responsible for good health and vitality, energy, growth and longevity. They are found in small concentrations in foods. With a few exceptions, they cannot be manufactured or synthesized by organisms and their absence or improper absorption results in specific deficiency diseases.
